Today = National Depression Screening Day

This week marks the annual Mental Illness Awareness Week and today is National Depression Screening Day.  If you or someone you know may be suffering from depression today is the day to step in and offer help.  Please go to the Screening For Mental Health site and take an anonymous screening (link in the middle of their page), or send someone you know the link.  Mental illness is most times a silent disease that a lot of people prefer not to talk about, today is the day to be there for someone.  Here is a little more information directly from the Mental Health Screening website:
"Screening for Mental Health offers National Depression Screening Day programs for the military, colleges and universities, community-based organizations and businesses.
Held annually during Mental Illness Awareness Week in October, National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) raises awareness and screens people for depression and related mood and anxiety disorders.
NDSD is the nation’s oldest voluntary, community-based screening program that provides referral information for treatment. Through the program, more than half a million people each year have been screened for depression since 1991".
