How to Hide Zucchini in your Pasta

Pasta has always been a favorite family dinner of mine. I have great memories of my mom preparing homemade pasta sauce. What I did not know for a long time as a kid was that my mom snuck in tons of vegetables into her sauce.  She added onions, carrots, celery and more. Now that I have kids of my own I make my very own version of "homemade" pasta sauce, but I add in zucchini.  The kids have no idea that I have added an extra vegetable to dinner, it's not sitting in a pile on their plate so out of sight out of mind.  Here is how I easily add zucchini into our pasta. I must add that we also use Barilla Gluten Free Pasta  due to my sons food allergies.

Pasta with Zucchini
Step 1: Clean your zucchini and chop on end off. Use a grater and grate your zucchini over a kitchen towel. Once the zucchini is completely grated, squeeze out the excess water over your sink.

Step 2: Put grated zucchini in a pot and add your sauce.  Cook on medium low for about 10 minutes.

Step 3: Add in your noodles, eat, and enjoy

My kids really enjoy this dinner and have never noticed the added zucchini. If for some reason you have a child that does notice the zucchini, switch to the smaller holes on your grater and see if you can sneak it in that way.  Good luck and happy veggie eating!

Perfect Salmon in 2 Steps

We love to incorporate healthy fish into our diets at least once a week. The Mayo Clinic states, "The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help keep your heart healthy by protecting the health of your blood vessels, lowering your risk of dying of heart disease." I'm all for a meal to keep my heart healthy. With our busy schedules making a fish dinner had the illusion of taking to much time. I was determined to continue to eat healthy and finally have cooking Salmon down to a science that fits our schedule. In this recipe I use McCormick garlic and Herb Salt Free Perfect Pinch seasoning, but you could use any other seasoning your family prefers. It can be as simple as salt and pepper or a squirt of lemon. Whatever seasoning you decide this dinner will be absolutely delicious!

Fresh Salmon (preferably not frozen)
Preferred Seasoning (salt and pepper, garlic and herb, lemon pepper)
Olive oil

  • Heat 2 TBSP of olive oil in a paper on medium high heat.
  • While oil is heating season your salmon.
  • Place salmon on pan cook for 2-3 minutes
  • Flip salmon over cook for another 2-3 minutes
  • Salmon will be done when it flakes easily off your fork
  • Eat and enjoy!

A Beginners Guide To Generating Blog Income

Are you new to blogging and looking to generate income from your blog? I've been blogging for 7 years and here is a list of tips on how I started monetizing my blog in the beginning. My first son was born 7 years ago and at that time I was finishing up my college degree. Since I was in school and not working full-time and new that I needed to start making some money on the side, especially if I wanted to pay off student loans. I had a passion for living frugally, couponing and DIY projects and decided to start my blog to share my awesome tips. I have added some affiliate links to this post... you will see why in my last tip.

*If you're just starting out with blogging and still need a blog host you can get an amazing deal using Bluehost. Signing up with Bluehost you will; Get a FREE domain name for a year, FREE site builders, 1-Click Wordpress Install and 24/7 Support… all for just $3.45/Month. You won’t find another deal quite like this.
Once you start monetizing your blog, this will easily pay for itself.

How I started to Generate My Blog Income

1.  Adsense = $69.71
The absolute first and easiest step I took was to add Adsense ads to my blog. Most people think that as soon as they set up ads on their sites they will start to generate a ton of money. Sorry to let you down, but this is not the case. Adsense ads will trickle in maybe a few cents when you first get started. The key to increasing the amount you earn from ads is to increase your traffic.

2. Blogsvertise =$1065
Once my traffic started to increase and I had a lot of great content up on my blog I joined Blogsvertise. I was able to write sponsored blog posts and got paid to post them to my blog.  I also had the option to post pay per action posts to earn a certain amount every time someone clicked on that post.

3. Money Back Apps =$62.95
*I not only earned money from using these apps myself but also from referrals from my blog.
Ibotta: $60.45 earned simply by taking a picture of my grocery receipt. Use my unique link and get $10 FREE after joining and redeeming your first rebate.

MobiSave: $2.50 Just like Ibotta I earn money from snapping a picture of my receipt. The earnings from this app aren’t as high, but what I love is that the money is deposited directly into your PayPal account the same day.

Receipt Hog: 709 Coins This app is another receipt scanning app which counts your money as coins.  Once you reach 1,000 coins you earn $5 to send to your Paypal or Amazon account. The more receipts you scan the more coins you get.

4. Tomoson = Multiple Free Products
Another route I took to start getting paid from my blog was to write product reviews. Thanks to Tomoson I was able to connect with some wonderful companies to review some great new products. I'm also working on paid posts this month. Check out one of my reviews here.

5. Affiliate Marketing = 0

I have recently started a new venture into affiliate marketing. I will report back after my first couple months to give a complete review. I singed up with
